Shop the newest collection of original handcrafted art! Visit Karim Lopez with Alpaca by Karim at the Mammoth Lakes Open Air Arts and Crafts Fair on July 29, 30 & 31 from 10:00 am – 5:00pm. “With alpaca yarn we use mixed techniques including domestic, old fashion knitting machines and hand knitting to create our wearable pieces. Most of the pieces incorporate a combination machine made components with hand crafted details. The process with domestic machines requires high skills for the right outcome. We control the knitting tension according to different parts of the garments. Once the weaving is open and loose to improve the softness, we need to use crochet knitting to check all the pieces and correct knitting loops. Using sewing machines, we put together all knitted parts. The end of the process is a manual steaming that is kind of our secret to go even further in the softness of our pieces. Each garment is crafted one at a time. Our alpaca line for 2022 has improved with more sophisticated stitches and patterns while remaining light and durable.” ~ Karim Lopez Discover the exceptional beauty of handcrafted items of art and décor for the home, office and gift giving at the Mammoth Lakes Open Air Arts and Crafts Fair.
