Shop handcrafted works from small businesses! See Reenie McMains’ (Reenie McMains, Ink) nature abstract paintings at the Sierra Arts Festival June 25 & 26, from10am-5pm. Roaming outdoors at every opportunity since she was old enough to leave the house alone, Reenie was fascinated by the world’s endless patterns, shadows, and shades. She took up drawing…while attending a prairie flora and fauna workshop. Botanical sketches, coming from close observation, were a satisfying way to interpret those patterns, shadows, and shades she loved as a child. She began playing with ideas, materials, and canvases, attending workshops by local artists, and became a self-taught abstract artist in the process. In addition to creating and showing her artwork at art fairs, Reenie teaches in an expeditionary learning charter school in Truckee, California where the joy of full creative freedom in curriculum design overflows in her art.
