Meet Darci Bogdan of Darci Shea Studios at the Ironstone Wine & Art Festival on June 11 & 12 from 10am-5pm Saturday & Sunday. “I create handmade cloisonné enamel jewelry and accessories. The process involves fine silver or gold wires bent into intricate designs that are filled with glass enamel. The enamel is fired in a kiln at 1400 degrees and then set in a wearable setting. The process of cloisonné enameling allows me as a classically trained children’s book illustrator to tell stories in a wearable medium. The art of enamel is union of colorful glass and precious metals that, when combined methodically, filter light through color to create 3D pictures. Cloisonné enamel dates back to 14th century China and has evolved over the centuries into many different styles and approaches.
