Shop handcrafted works from small businesses! Meet Kristen Hoard at the Rotary Club of Saratoga Fine Arts Show on April 30 & May 1, 2022 from 10:00am to 5:00pm “My art consists of metal sculptures and wall art made from recycled metal. Many of my pieces are abstract designs that give a sense of primordial creation and all the elements of fire, water, and air. Other designs are reminiscent of canyons and waterfalls. Most designs have some organic feel to them and give a sense of the natural elements of the earth. My process involves finding various recycled scrap metal pieces at scrap yards. I take the scrap metal and have it sandblasted to remove the paint and rust. Then I cut the metal by hand with a plasma cutter and weld the pieces together then grind different textures with sanding discs. I also use various metal dyes and acid patinas to add color to the metal. With the LED pieces I solder the electrical components and add switches and battery boxes to the sculpture. To finish the piece I either use sealer, resin or take it to a powder coater who puts on a clear finish over my color.” ~ Kristen Hoard Get to know the artists and learn the stories behind each piece they make.
