I am an artist who who enjoys creating whimsical cartoon paintings and realistic paintings of the local neighborhood.

Since graduating with a degree in illustration,  I have painted murals for the Berryessa branch of the San Jose Public Library, Russo McEntee Academy in San Jose, the children's department of the Sunnyvale Public Library and the Sunnyvale Art Gallery.  I have also painted art for utility boxes in Santa Clara and Campbell.

Since December 2011, I've been the regular weekly political cartoonist for the Philippines Today, a Filipino American newspaper based in the San Francisco Bay Area.  In August 2019, the Philippines Today merged with the Philippine News and is now called the Philippine News Today.

I won the 2013, 2015, 2016 and 2018 Sigma Delta Chi award for editorial cartooning for newspapers with a circulation under 100,000.  I have also won the 2016 Robert F. Kennedy Book and Journalism Award for Editorial Cartoons.  I won first prize for the Best of the West editorial cartooning contest in 2016 and third prize in 2017.

I am a member of the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators, the Association of American Editorial Cartoonists and the Sunnyvale Art Club.

I began painting in oil and water color after retirement  from an operating room registered nurse position. I find painting very fulfilling.  My subject matter is very diverse, influenced by my growing up on a farm.

Art remains a strong contender of how we share our opinions and ideas. It has the possibility of changing one’s thoughts, opening new ideas, and innovating the unthinkable. However, art is also borrowing received ideas so common to our educational system and altering them into creating a novice trend. ​​

I have no grand illusions that art will create a revolution in the traditional sense, but have witnessed the powerful changes it can make in an individual. Just one new idea can change a persons’ perception. The world may not change in an instant by art, but it’s slow and insipid spread into the active part of our brain's lives to tell the tale. It may leave the studio and make its way around the world, and yet come back to the studio where anything can happen.

My work in the past ten years used revealing aspects of expression and emotions, which have a profound impact on people's feelings. It ranges from the context of the landscapes, abstracts, semi-abstracts, still life to figurines inspired by the subtle beauty around me. My goal is to share a perception of my reality by transforming it into a relatable yet unique piece that speaks to each of you on an individual level.
