"The Sound of Fall" Acrylic paint composite on archival cotton. Each canvas in the 4-piece series is 24"x36"x1.5". The inspiration for this piece comes from my appreciation of the fall season in the Bay Area. The mix of colors in the undulating patterns represents the bright and warm experience of the season. The piece was created using a puddle pour technique followed by swiping the puddles with a trowel and lastly spinning each canvas on a large lazy susan. It's an extremely messy process that requires a lot of studio space, patience and willingness to have paint on everything.

GUILTY PLEASURE by Angelo Lopez. 16" diameter. Acrylic on canvas.

My wife loves sushi. With knowledge of this, on our first date, I took her to a sushi restaurant in Japan Town in San Jose. Since that time, we have gone to several sushi restaurants in San Jose, Sunnyvale, Mountain View and the wider San Francisco Bay Area.

I have several fond memories of sitting in the sushi bar with my wife and nieces watching sushi boats float past me. My nieces picked up the love of sushi from my wife.

The ironic thing is that I really don't like eating fish. But I love California rolls. And there is a great spam sushi that would appeal to anyone who grew up as a military brat, as I did.

This painting would be a great gift for a friend or spouse who loves sushi.

FLYING SOUTH FOR THE WINTER by Angelo Lopez. 24" x 48". Acrylic on Canvas.

I've always been a big fan of puns and corny humor. When I was a child, I would spend hours in the television set watching Abbott and Costello, the Marx Brothers, Laurel and Hardy, and the great comedies of the 1930s and 1940s.

This had a big influence on the paintings I like to create. I just thought up this idea when I was looking at the sky at some birds flying south for the winter and wondering if there were rebates on Southwest.

JASPER AND THE SEA by Angelo Lopez. 24" x 36". Acrylic on canvas.

Jasper was the first pet that I ever had. He came into my life when I began dating my wife. I grew to love Jasper even though he was a fat and rather lazy cat. Even though he passed away in 2012, both my wife and I still miss this cat.

Jasper loved fish. I'm sure if he had the wherewithal, he would try to catch the biggest fish possible for a scrumptious snack. This idea inspired this painting. I had also listened to the story of Jonah and the whale at a Sunday sermon.

This would be a perfect gift for the owner of a lazy but beloved pet cat.
